There is a lot of information and practices in Yoga that can deepen our understanding of ourselves and our relationship to the world around us. There are so many choices available, especially through technology these days, that at times, it's overwhelming. It can be easy to get lost in our Yoga practice because we either get confused, try too hard or want to become the master of everything. That's why it's always nice to come back to the roots of living Yoga with practices we can easily adapt on our yoga mat and in our daily lives.
This weekend retreat focuses on introducing and deepening 5 fundamental tools of Yoga that cultivate awareness, self-confidence and happiness. These tools give us the inner strength and self-discipline necessary to grow further on our Yoga path. They are the NIYAMAS and they are helpful in nurturing personal growth in anyone's life, not just Yoga students.
In each class we will focus on a Niyama by discussing and practicing its benefits and how to blend them into your daily life. All of these will include a Yoga class practice. Here is a look at the weekend class schedule:
Friday /16.30-18.30 / with Eva / German
Be content. Be happy class (Santosha)
Together we will practice specific Yoga sequences, mudras and discuss Yoga concepts that nurture letting go of the past and freeing yourself of expectations, so that you can be more content and at peace with the ups and downs of life.
Saturday / 8.00-10.00 / with Eric / English
Purify yourself class (Shaucha)
This class is where we will explore some Yoga traditions to cleanse the body through specific movements, breath techniques and Trataka. Re-programming your negative core beliefs, habits and thoughts can also be done through the practice of mind quieting techniques and Yoga Nidra meditation. If these don't appeal to you, we will also give tips on applying Shaucha to your daily life through the food eaten and the environment you live in.
Saturday / 16.30-18:30 / with Eva / German
Overflowing with determination and confidence class (Tapas)
Strengthen willpower to do the things in your life you avoid doing, but will have a positive effect on your life. Tapas creates that internal fire within you to recognize and let go of unhealthy habits and beliefs and strengthen the positive ones.
Sunday / 8.00-10.00 / with Eric / English
Self Study & The Big Picture of You (Svadhyaya & Ishvara Pranidhana)
Remember the last time you were inspired by a book or movie? This is what this class is about in a yogic sense. It's about taking what we have learned in the previous classes, practicing mantras and listening to yoga texts that will inspire you to act in harmony with your life goals when you feel you're sabotaging yourself. After our Yoga asana practice, we will discuss and implement a unique and individual 'intention' or 'Sankalpa' and apply it to a guided Yoga Nidra meditation by Eric. This practice will help you gain insight into what it means to truly surrender to your Self and realize perhaps your higher purpose in life.
By the end of this weekend, you will have a stronger foundation to move forward into the deeper stages of Yoga with focus, inner strength and happiness. Take one step at a time practicing one Niyama at a time. From this weekend retreat go forward without seeking perfection and let the practice come to you.
