Yin Yoga Level 1

Unlike Vinyasa Flow classes (Yang Yoga) where the focus is more on superficial muscles, strength and endurance, Yin Yoga focuses on the deeper layers of connective tissues in the body like fascia. Yin poses are generally held for 3-7 minutes with muscles relaxed in order to slowly and safely stretch and open the connective tissues that surround joints (hips, spine, shoulders for example) and to stimulate the flow of Chi in the body. Since Yin Yoga is a slow moving and quiet practice, it allows students to fully engage with the breath, which is effectively used to heal the body and still the mind.
